Manicure Monday

Another week is here and man has this one already been a whirlwind! I was supposed to have been in Chicago by now for a work conference but at the last minute, I was asked to be a part of a meeting tomorrow. Everyone is making a major deal out of this presentation but it seems that no one can figure out why it is so important. Lovely. But it gives me a chance to work on my presenting skills which is great and it seems fairly high profile so I am just happy to be a part of it...If only it were scheduled for the end of the week when I would have been in the office anyways. Oh well.

But for this big, important meeting, I will apparently be rocking some fierce nails. With all my lovely downtime this weekend, I decided to bust out my nail stamp kit and do something fun. I was suckered into buying the above kit at one of those mall kiosks where it is basically a real life informercial...you know the ones. So this woman paints my nail and rolls this stamper over a metal plate with some polish on it, presses it on my nail and boom! Zebra stripes appear. It took all of 5 seconds to do and at that point, I was hoooked. So easy, so simple, so fun! And just like that, I forked over my $24.95 and let me tell you, this baby has paid for itself many times over. It gives you a manicure look without having to shell out the big bucks and go to the salon. Sign me up! You even get multiple patterns on one set so you can change your look whenever you want. The color combonations are endless and so fun to experiment with and the compliments abound when my nails have a unique pattern on them and let's be honest, on a Monday, who couldn't use a few more of those?

Friday I'm in Love

TGIF folks! T-G-I-F! Aside from blowing bubbles with some delicious mango gum, here are some other things I have been loving this week:

Getting back to regularly emailing my cousin. Gives me my daily dose of hilarity.

Eating strawberries and nutella. Is there a better combination? Try it, you'll love it.

Babysitting a 5 year old boy and reading Disney stories with him. It's the little things people!

Free bottle of wine on my desk when I walked in this morning---hellllooooo Friday!

Having NOTHING to do this weekend and being so pumped about this rare occasion.

Things I have not been loving:

The regret I am feeling from not buying a make up bag (something that may be remedied this weekend)

Losing an earring at the gym. Then combing the floor near my machine in pursuit of said earring. Nada.

And if that gym story is not enough, also getting a blister on the same day.

Forgetting to turn up the volume on my alarm and waking up late. 20 minutes late. The bed head look is coming back right?

Lack of sleep just as an overall theme as of late.

Cheers to the weekend! And all the nothingness it has in store for me!

Construction Zone

So there is this construction happening on my street this summer and let me just say, I am over it. I've got this lovely curve in the road right in front of my house which already makes it a hassle in the mornings with cars parked on both sides and then moving cars coming from both directions. You basically take your life into your own hands when pulling into the driving lane or you wait until traffic is backed up due to the light turning red in the square. That makes it awkward too, though, because then you put on your biggest innocent smile to the grumpy driver across the way and send them telepathic signals saying let me in! Let me in! Sometimes they are lovely people who let you sneak your little car into the line. Sometimes they are less than rad and pretend they don't receive your telepathic messages which results in you inching out anyway and feigning an oh, pardon me apologetic wave...we all know no one is sorry. But now, throw some serious equipment into the, mix like that yellow guy right there? Let's just say it's extra peachy at 7:45 am. 

7th Inning Stretch

What is summer without a little baseball? This past weekend, I was able to spend some quality time with my youngest brother, taking him around Cincinnati and making a trip to the ballpark! He heads off to college in a few weeks and I cannot believe he is starting this whole new chapter of his life. I like to think I helped him soak up his last few days of summer.

Chocolate Chips to the Rescue

Hey! I made muffins! For dinner! 

They were so much better in ramekins too. And bigger so obviously better. And I technically made breakfast for tomorrow too. I know, I don't know what came over me either. 

Actually I do. This is what happens when you don't have anything to make for dinner. Before you are too impressed, you should know, all I had to do was add milk to a packet but to be honest, it's impressive that I even had that in the fridge. SO. Hooray for going to the grocery store tomorrow! And for eating more than just pastries at all my meals. 

Manicure Monday

This manicure is in honor of Team USA (and how awesome is that koozy? Only a dollar! How could I say no?). By now, I think most people I have come in contact with this past week knows of my love of the games. I love how it just seems to bring everyone together and has me rooting for not only the athletes but for the human spirit. 

I decided to go with a royal blue for all my nails except the ring finger, which I painted red for the good old U.S. of A. Just for some added interest, and because it's the Olympics, I used gold flecked polish on top of all the nails painted blue. Because after all, everyone is going for the gold, why not me too?
